Google Ads

Tell Google Ads which calls became customers.

Saylia ties every call from Google Ads — placed from a call ad or from your website — back to the ad that caused it, then uploads the outcome you care about with its value. Smart Bidding learns from booked jobs, not ringing phones.

Tracking

Two ways an ad becomes a call. Both get credit.

Most accounts get calls both ways. Saylia treats them the same afterward: one call record, one verdict, one upload.

Calls from call ads

Calls placed straight from a call asset, call-only ad or location asset are tracked by campaign, routed while they ring, and sent back to Google Ads with their outcome.

  • Tracked by campaign
  • Outcomes sent back to Google Ads
  • Reported beside your paid clicks

Calls from your website

The Saylia tag saves the gclid, gbraid or wbraid from the landing page and shows that visitor their own tracking number. When they call — during the visit, or later (72 hours by default) if the number hasn’t gone to another visitor since — the call carries the click, along with the landing page and referrer.

  • Pools can serve only visitors from Google Ads clicks
  • UTM tags and the GA client ID saved alongside
  • Your real number stays in the page for search engines

Conversions

Upload outcomes, not call lengths.

You choose which verdicts count and what each is worth. Saylia uploads them to the conversion actions you name, matched to the click or the call.

  • Your outcomes, your actionsSend booked calls and qualified calls to separate conversion actions, and choose which one bidding optimizes toward.
  • A value on every callSend a value per outcome, or the job’s actual value when your field-service system reports it, so bidding can tell a big job from a small one.
  • Click ID plus hashed caller detailsClick conversions carry the caller’s details hashed with SHA-256 alongside the click ID. Without a click ID, Saylia can send the hashed number alone, and Google matches only some of these.
  • Call ads count tooCalls placed straight from a call ad go back to Google Ads as call conversions.

The details

Google’s details, handled.

Call tracking for Google Ads is mostly small rules followed exactly. These are the ones Saylia follows for you.

  • gclid, gbraid and wbraid saved from the landing page to the visit
  • Calls from call ads tracked by campaign and sent back as call conversions
  • Qualified and booked calls kept as separate conversion stages
  • A value and currency on every upload, and an order ID on click conversions
  • Click conversions carry the caller’s hashed details alongside the click ID, for enhanced conversions
  • Caller details put in standard format and hashed with SHA-256 for click conversions; call conversions carry the caller’s number unhashed, as Google requires
  • Duplicate conversions caught before they’re sent
  • Number pools that serve only visitors from Google Ads clicks, if you want them to
  • Uploads through the Google Ads API, moving to Google’s Data Manager API

Setup advice

Count each call once.

Google Ads can already count calls on its own. Left as they are, those conversions and Saylia’s would both steer bidding. Make one of them the one that counts.

  1. Saylia “Booked call” (or “Qualified call” while volume builds)Primary
  2. Saylia “Qualified call”Secondary
  3. Google “Calls from ads”Secondary
  4. Google “Calls to a phone number on your website”Secondary

Questions, answered

Can Saylia track calls from call ads?
Yes. Calls placed straight from your call ads are tracked by campaign, and their outcomes go back to Google Ads. The call ads guide shows the setup.
Why doesn’t every call have a click ID?
Click IDs come from your website: the Saylia tag saves one when a visitor lands from an ad. Calls from call ads are matched to the ad another way. Without a click ID, Saylia can send the hashed caller number, and Google matches some of these.
Which conversion should be primary: qualified or booked?
Booked, if you book enough calls for bidding to learn from. If bookings are rare, start with qualified calls as primary so Smart Bidding has enough signal, keep booked calls as secondary, and switch once volume builds.
Will I double count calls Google already tracks?
Not if you set it up as we recommend: keep Google’s own “Calls from ads” and website call conversions as secondary, observation-only actions, and make Saylia’s booked or qualified call action primary. The call conversions guide shows each setting.
